Palin hates fruit flies
OK, is there a non-human creature that Palin likes? (And we already know she doesn't like all humans, like the ones who don't live in the pro-America parts of the country) Now, she official hates fruit flies, which I might add my uncle used to work with, so I remember seeing the critters up close. Would they...errr, hurt a fly? Nope. But scientists do like to experiment on them to, like, help discover shit that's useful to humans! And not just smart, science believing people! Geez....Does she reject modern medicine now?

And now for cute
If you wanted a light-hearted moment involving a kid discussing politics, here it is. Only, he does better than just discuss it, he actually interviews Joe Biden, who is now his homeboy. How many kids can say that?
And in case you like Biden a little too much, this is the doll for you.

Palin's 7 Year old Has a Louis Vuitton
Ummm...check out these pics and be glad you didn't donate money to the Repubs to buy Sarah Palin's family new clothes.
I guess the empress really had no clothes before the RNC.

How Palin Will Spend Our Money
You gotta love it when the press investigates things like, oh, Palin forcing her children upon various state events she's been invited to so she can "spend more time with them". I'm so glad that she may soon be able to use our tax payer $$$ to transport her brood.
Read about it here.

The Final Sprint
I think AP referred to the next 20 days as the final sprint towards the elections. Oh gee, now I feel even more nervous ><
The good news of today, that perhaps rewarded me with the most random gchat IMs ever, is this: HuffPo reports that Colin Powell will most likely endorse Obama. See? I didn't make it up! Would be nice if it's true.
From the two seconds I watched of the debate (I went to Hof U for a year so I was curious to see if I knew where they were...I had no clue but my grandmother told me the security out there is *insane* and you couldn't sell you mother to get in, all media more or less) I took away my main impression of John McBush I've had all along: Doddering old man. He just points fingers, anything he might have seemingly stood for no longer matters. It's all about being top man in this race, not the issues and definitely not the country. (And I no longer believe he ever stood for anything these days.)
I just want Obama to get elected so we can go on with our lives...and so I can buy cute 2009 calendar of him. He's hot. I can't help it ;) I must say it at least once in this blog since it will soon all be over (God, I hope it's all over in 20 days).

Grand-baby Palin
Just to prove I'm a softie, Levi Johnson doesn't seem like such a bad guy and I buy that his friends maybe caused him to exaggerate his MySpace page, though I don't buy that he was willing to get married quite so soon!
Two things about the above article that bother me concerning the future son-in-law.
1. High school drop out, great message that sends to American teenagers.
2. He's a drop out with a Blackberry???? Good luck grand-baby Palin, I'm guessing you're parents aren't saving to send you to college since clearly education ain't a big deal to these folk.

The Weathermen
There has been so much said about the debate between Palin and Biden that I almost feel the issue has been exhausted. She talked in circles, not worth a whole post about. You're welcome to disagree.
Mostly on the Palin front, crazy things have been happening, like inciting racial hatred. But I really wanted to talk about the Weathermen. What really strikes me about this is no one knew who they were until this whole thing "Obama knows Bill Ayers" started circulating. I still know quite a few people who don't know the name of the guy Obama is associated with. The whole thing is just so insanely obscure.
Yet without knowing much about the guy or his radical organization, Obama is suddenly a terrorist. Barack Hussein Obama, friend of terrorists, ergo he is a terrorist! So maybe he had dinner with Ayers, had coffee talk with him, if that makes him a terrorist then why aren't we arresting Ayers and all the Weathermen for treason? For the safety of this country, shouldn't we go all Japanese-internment-camp-style and just imprison everyone with a Muslim sounding name?
No. Because that would be stupid. However, that brings me back to what just boggles my mind about all this. The Republicans support "non-elitism" (ie no education) therefore most of their supporters boo Palin's mention of the New York Times....why do they even care who the Weathermen are? That's like ancient history. But then the people who hate Obama for being a terrorist probably count Birth of a Nation in their top ten films along with the Passion of Christ.
Do we really live in this country? Sarah Vowell was on the Daily Show last week, a woman born on Oklahoma, who now makes NY her home. She brought up the point that someone like Palin goes to Ground Zero and people all around America wrap themselves in this East Coast tragedy and two seconds later are complaining about our East Coast elitism (interesting as Obama isn't from the East Coast). Vowell also went onto wryly proclaim, "New York was American enough for Al Qaeda." Yet we aren't American enough for Americans. But to point out the irony of this to "wholesome" small town folk would brand us "elitist" once more.
For more reading about Obama being guilty by association, read Frank Rich's op-ed in the Times. He brings up a valid point that Palin is Anti-Semitic for quoting an Anti-Semitic guy, if we're doing the whole guilt-by-association thing. And why not? It's so easy to play this game. My grandfather was discharged from the US Army for reading Communist newspapers so I must be a Communist. Feel free to share your own guilt-by-association stories.
